Privacy
Unless you create a Tally account, Tally collects no personal information: invoice files, emails, reminders and everything else you give Tally stay in your own browser and are never uploaded. There are no cookies, analytics, tracking or advertising.
Voice. If you use Tally's microphone button, your browser turns your speech into text. In Chrome and Edge this is done by Google or Microsoft, and in Safari by Apple, so your voice is sent to them for that purpose under their own privacy policies. Tally itself never stores your recordings. Voice notes you record for friends stay on your device until you choose to share them. You can always type instead.
Weather and location. If you add the weather to your morning, Tally asks your browser for your location once a day and sends it, rounded to about a kilometre, to Open-Meteo (a free, open weather service) to fetch the forecast. Nothing else is sent, and you can turn it off any time. Calendar. A calendar file you import is read in your browser and never uploaded. Notifications are shown by your own device; nothing goes through a server.
General questions. When you ask Tally a general-knowledge question (for example “who was Ada Lovelace”) and Tally's full AI isn't switched on, Tally sends just the topic (“Ada Lovelace”) to Wikipedia's official service to fetch a short answer. Questions about you, your day or your notes are never sent. You can switch this off in Settings.
If you create a Tally account (optional). Your Tally is saved to our database so it's the same on all your devices. We store your email address, your Tally data, and a record of important actions (for example “email sent”, “calendar event added”) so you can see what Tally did. Our data is hosted by Supabase in the UK/EU and our website by Netlify. If you connect Google or Outlook, we store access keys for them encrypted, and use them only to show your calendar, add events you approve and send emails you approve; you can disconnect at any time and we revoke access. If you link Alexa, Amazon passes your requests to Tally; Alexa can read your briefing, bills and reminders and add to your lists, but cannot send, pay or cancel anything. If you buy a plan, Stripe handles your payment details; we never see your card number. You can export everything or delete your account (and all data held online) from You & permissions at any time.
If we open sign-ups in future, this notice will say who holds your details, why, how long they are kept and how to have them deleted, in line with UK GDPR.
Tally's calculations use the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. They are not legal advice.
